Plagued the mid America half breed experiment by Better Hero Army Book Review

by Better Hero Army

Blurb
When Tom, the son of a powerful Senator, becomes stranded in the Plagued States while searching for his lost sister, his only hope of survival rests in the hands of a few grizzled veteran zombie hunters and a mysterious half-breed zombie woman he thinks may know where to find his sister.

I have read alot of zombie dysotonian genre books this year being a complete zombie-holic and never get bored with them. So when I was asked if I would like the opportunity to read "Plagued" I jumped at the chance.
Better Hero Army absolutely nailed this new and creative idea and plotline; its completely UNLIKE traditional zombie plots around.

I was hooked from page one, a brilliant twist and not a government germ warfare or revenge plot to be seen; yess!

Set after the zombie outbreak in the USA; two senators sons and brothers Gary and Tom are looking for their zombie sister Larissa, this was Tom's first trip to an organized zombie slave trade...another fab twist having zombies as a marketable commodity.
Of course things go pear shaped...or...zombie tooth shaped....to be precise; but with the addition of a half-breed zombie sensitive to danger, adds to this fast paced extremely well written read.
Its a well structured plot, with well balanced suspense combined with strong relatable characters. I really took to Tom the main character; who is fighting his own demons about not being able to protect his little sister, yet he himself was only a child at the time. Better Hero Army has made Tom a gentlemanly, down to earth hero any girl reading this will love.
Strong, interesting supporting characters also bring this book together, in particular I really liked Peske with his gentle caring, yet business relationship with Penelope; so was gutted to lose him at the end.

I loved the addition of Zombie half breeds giving a more dangerous twist and I really cant wait to read book two for more of Tom and Penelope. Its a shorter read novella and I personally would have loved to read a longer novel; but it was a fantastic read with an exciting, unique ending which I devoured in one sitting.

Another brilliant book for the zombieholics library.
