Abducted (The Lizzy Gardener series #1)

Abducted by TRRagan

Blurb
When Lizzy Gardner was only seventeen, what should have been the perfect night became the perfect nightmare. Kidnapped just blocks from home after a romantic evening with her boyfriend, Jared, she woke up to find herself at the mercy of a depraved serial killer. Imprisoned and tormented for months by the maniac she came to know as Spiderman, Lizzy narrowly escaped, the only one of his victims to survive. But Spiderman escaped too, outwitting police and cursing Lizzy to spend her life looking over her shoulder…
Fourteen years later, Lizzy is a private investigator who teaches self-defense to teenage girls in her free time. She does what she can to help others protect themselves and to forget the horror of her ordeal, yet fears she will always be known as “the one who got away.” Then she receives a phone call from Jared, now a special agent for the FBI, with grim news. The killer has resurfaced, this time with a very specific target—Lizzy. And he’s made it clear that she will not escape him again. So begins a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, a terrifying, heart-pounding hunt that only one will survive.

Lizzie haunted by her abduction 14 years ago finds her cruel abductor is back when several girls are found murdered! Abducted is the first book I've read by TR Ragan and I will certainly be reading more. Its a brilliant psychological thriller which is fast moving to keep you turning the pages. So many times I wanted to put my kindle down but I was just too engrossed and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting till 4.30am..yawn...( tired not bored ok) lol!

The plot is imaginative and extremely creative by letting us see flashbacks to her original frightening abduction, but as the reader I would have loved to have known just a bit more about her survival; maybe a book 1 instead of this one. Despite that, its well written with believable characters but I got a bit confused midway with the amount of people involved in the plot, (maybe I was tired); but this was short-lived and they eventually all fitted into place.
Theresa has created a sick twisted man whose cruelty stems from his childhood...like they all seem to do, but you could understand slightly how it twisted his mind. Both main characters were relatable and beliveable and I really took to Lizzie as a person too. Plus the surrounding characters supported the story well.
What I loved about the storyline was that she created female characters with spunk and bravery that didn't just fall and trip over; scream and sob, they were all powerful women and girls who showed extreme bravery in the most awful situation they remained strong minded despite the odds. Thank you for showing not all women are wimps.
She had me guessing right till the end but I did feel the ending was quite fast and bit short for me, but it certainly was not predictable like some thrillers.
Overall I absolutely loved the clever and imaginative plot, its a fast paced gripping read and I cant wait to read book #2 and #3 of the Lizzie Gardener series, plus her other books too.

Theresa writes medieval time travels, romantic comedy, romantic suspense, and her first romantic thriller, ABDUCTED, will be out in May, 2011, under the name, T.R. Ragan.
